Homelab

Infrastructure that runs itself.

Where the day job continues: a small lab run like production, patched, backed up and watched without me having to remember any of it.

Hardware

  1. Proxmox VEThe main node: virtual machines and Docker hosts
  2. Proxmox Backup ServerScheduled, deduplicated backups of every VM
  3. Raspberry PiAn independent watchdog, still on duty if the main node goes down

Automation & patching

Ansible playbooks run from Semaphore keep every machine updated and hardened, with a Proxmox snapshot taken first so any change can be rolled back.

  • Ansible
  • Semaphore
  • Gitea

Observability

Checkmk and Pulse watch the hosts; Uptime Kuma on the Pi double-checks from outside the main node.

Network & security

A reverse proxy with certificates that renew themselves, redundant DNS with ad blocking, and secrets and credentials kept in one place.

  • Nginx Proxy Manager
  • AdGuard Home ×3
  • OpenBao

Services

Docker stacks deployed through Portainer and kept current by Watchtower, again with a snapshot before each update.

About

The person behind it.

  • FocusAnsible & automation

I was born and raised in Switzerland, and I've been a Linux system administrator since 2021 — senior since this year, though the reality is I grew up inside the very place I work today, so the senior part came naturally.

These days my main focus is the Ansible ecosystem and automation in general: if it happens twice, it should happen by itself. Outside of work I love exploring new places, keeping active, and eating genuinely good food — and I'm a proper automotive enthusiast, Formula 1 in particular.
